Choose a small surface
A short screen-free session feels easier when the materials fit in one tray. Start with the bookmark for a line of thread, or choose the coaster when you want colour to move back and forth. Both projects have a modest footprint and a useful ending.
- Running Stitch Bookmark — a 45-minute felt-stitching project.
- Woven Yarn Coaster — a 60-minute cardboard-loom project.
Put the tools beside the materials, make one comfortable test mark, and begin. The goal is a little attention held in one place.
Read the whole materials list before starting, and count gathering supplies as separate preparation time. If you are new to stitching, choose the felt bookmark and practise on an offcut first. If you already have yarn, prepare the cardboard loom before your quiet hour begins. Keep a small dish beside you for thread ends and put the needle away whenever you pause. These are planning estimates; leave yourself extra time for an unfamiliar technique.
