Big Two Strategy: 6 Tips
1. Plan the whole hand
Before you play, group your cards: five-card hands first, then triples, pairs and singles. Count how many plays you need. Fewer plays means fewer chances to be stuck.
2. Low singles first
A lone 3 or 4 is a liability: it can't win a trick, so play it while you have the lead or when the table is low.
3. Keep control
The 2s and the high pairs win the lead back. Spend them when winning the lead lets you shed a big hand, not just to beat a single card.
4. Lead big when you can
With a 2 to regain control, lead your five-card hand early, before an opponent with a stronger one is ready to take over.
5. Count the cards left
An opponent with three cards or fewer is about to win. Don't pass politely: beat whatever they play, even at a cost.
6. Pass on purpose
Passing is free. If beating the table would break a planned pair or straight, let it go and wait for your lead.
