Connect6 Strategy: 6 Tips
Connect6 is Gomoku with the arithmetic doubled: you place two, so you must count threats in twos. New here? Read the rules first.
1. Think in pairs
Every turn is two stones. Ask of each pair: does it make a threat the opponent must answer, and does it stop theirs? A good move often does one of each.
2. Four in six is a win
Four of your stones inside a six-long window with the other two points empty is a win next turn: you fill both. The opponent must break the window now, so threats are forcing.
3. Two threats beat two stones
The opponent's two stones can block two threats, but not three. Build toward positions where one move creates three separate four-in-six lines.
4. Block and build
When defending, place the blocking stone where it also extends your own line. Pure defence hands the initiative back.
5. Stay connected
Scattered stones make few windows. Stones within two points of each other share windows and multiply threats.
6. Watch the diagonals
Diagonal lines are the ones players miss. Before each move, scan the four directions from every opponent stone placed last turn.
Frequently asked questions
What is a threat in Connect6?
Any line where you need at most two more stones to make six: four stones with two open spaces in a six-length window. Since you place two stones a turn, an unblocked threat is a win.
