How to Play Go Fish
Go Fish is the classic children's card game, and a good first game for learning to count and remember.
The deal
Two to four players. Each gets seven cards (five with four players). The rest go face down in the middle: the pool.
A turn
- Ask one other player for a rank you hold, for example "any sevens?".
- If they have any, they must hand over every card of that rank, and you ask again.
- If they have none, they say "go fish": you draw one card from the pool. If it's the rank you asked for, show it and go again; otherwise your turn ends.
Books
Four cards of one rank make a book. Lay it down as soon as you have it.
The end
The hand ends when all thirteen books are made. The player with the most books wins.
On kawu
- Tap a card in your hand to choose the rank, then tap the player to ask.
- The computers remember the asks, just as a good player would. The table log shows every ask so you can too.
Frequently asked questions
Can you ask for a rank you don't have in Go Fish?
No. You may only ask for a rank you hold at least one card of.
What happens when you run out of cards?
When your turn comes you draw a card from the pool (if any are left) and play on. If the pool is empty too, you sit out until the hand ends.
