How to Play Hangman
Hangman is the classic pencil-and-paper word game. One side thinks of a word; the other guesses it a letter at a time.
How to play
- The word is shown as a row of blanks, one for each letter.
- Pick a letter, on the screen or by typing it.
- If the letter is in the word, it's written into every blank where it appears.
- If it isn't, one more piece is added to the drawing.
- Fill in the whole word before the drawing is finished to win.
Levels
| Level | Wrong letters allowed |
|---|---|
| Easy | 10 |
| Normal | 8 |
| Hard | 6 |
On the easier levels the drawing starts from scratch. On hard, the gallows is already up.
Words
In one-player games the word is a common English word of 5 to 8 letters, picked at random. In two-player mode, the first player types any real English word of 3 to 12 letters; it's hidden while typing.
Hints
The hint suggests a letter: of all the words that still fit what you can see, it picks the letter most of them contain. It doesn't peek at the answer.
Frequently asked questions
How many wrong guesses do you get in Hangman?
On kawu: 10 on easy, 8 on normal and 6 on hard. Each wrong letter adds one piece to the drawing; when it's complete, the game is over.
Can I play Hangman with a friend?
Yes. Turn on two players in the settings: the first player types a secret word (it's hidden as they type), then hands the device over and the second player guesses.
