How to Play Kakurasu
Kakurasu is a sums puzzle: no numbers inside the grid, only totals around it, and a weight for every square that depends on where it sits.
The rules
- Columns are numbered 1 to n across the top; rows 1 to n down the left.
- Fill squares. In its row, a filled square is worth its column number; in its column, its row number.
- The number to the right of each row is the sum of its filled squares' column numbers. The number under each column is the sum of its filled squares' row numbers.
- Make every total match. Each puzzle has exactly one answer.
Playing on kawu
- Tap a square once to fill it, twice for a cross (known empty), three times to clear.
- Totals turn green when met and red when exceeded.
- Undo steps back; Hint fixes a wrong square or fills a correct one.
- Sizes 5×5, 6×6 and 7×7; the daily puzzle is a 6×6 shared by everyone.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the same square count differently for its row and column?
In its row a square is worth its column number (1 to n from the left); in its column it's worth its row number (1 to n from the top). The totals on the right use column numbers; the totals at the bottom use row numbers.
Can a row total be 0?
Yes: that row has no filled squares. Cross the whole row.
