8-Ball Pool Tips: 8 Ways to Win More Games
Pool is half aiming and half planning. These tips cover both. New to 8-ball? Read the rules first.
1. Aim at the ghost ball
Imagine a ball touching your object ball directly opposite the pocket. Hit the cue ball to that spot.
2. Play softer
Most missed shots are hit too hard. Medium power keeps the cue ball under control.
3. Think about your next shot
Before each shot, decide where the cue ball should stop for the next one.
4. Take the easy balls first, but not all of them
Keep one easy ball near a pocket as a way out later.
5. Break up clusters early
Balls stuck together get harder as the table empties. Open them while you still have options.
6. Leave the 8 near a pocket
An 8 on a cushion far from the pockets can cost you the game at the end.
7. Play safe when there's no shot
Roll the cue ball softly behind other balls so your opponent can't see a pot.
8. Use ball in hand well
After a foul by your opponent, place the cue ball for an easy pot and a good next position.

Picture a ghost ball touching the object ball on the side away from the pocket, and send the cue ball to that spot. On kawu the guide line shows exactly that.
