How to Play Slant
Slant, known in Japan as Gokigen Naname, is a Nikoli puzzle of diagonals: one in every square, numbers at the corners, and the single rule that nothing may close up.
The rules
- Put exactly one diagonal, / or \, in every square.
- A number on a corner point gives the number of diagonals that touch that point.
- The diagonals must never form a closed loop.
Playing on kawu
- Tap a square to cycle blank → / → \.
- A numbered point turns green when its count is met and red when exceeded. If the diagonals form a loop, they turn red and a message appears.
- Undo steps back; Hint fixes a wrong diagonal or fills a well-determined square.
- Sizes 5×5, 7×7 and 8×8; the daily puzzle is a 7×7 shared by everyone.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as a loop?
Any closed path made of diagonals. The smallest is a diamond of four diagonals around one corner point. Larger loops wind through many squares, so check as you fill.
Can a corner point touch four diagonals?
Yes: all four squares around it point their diagonals at it. That makes a star, not a loop, and it's a common pattern.
