TriPeaks Strategy: 6 Tips for Longer Runs and Higher Scores
TriPeaks rewards a little look-ahead. The cards you can see often allow several different runs. Picking the right one is the difference between a short burst and a run that clears half a peak. New to the game? Read the rules first.
1. Look for the whole run before your first card
Before you click, trace the chain: "7 on the waste, then the 8, then the 9, then the 10…" The first card that fits is often not the start of the best run. Count which choice lets you play the most cards in a row, because each extra card is worth more than the last.
2. When you can go up or down, pick the side with more cards
On a 6 you can play a 5 or a 7. Count how many 5s, 4s and 3s are face up versus 7s, 8s and 9s. Go towards the side with more cards available, and keep the other direction for the way back.
3. Turn over face-down cards
Playing a card that uncovers a face-down card gives you a new card to use, maybe in the middle of your run. When two plays are equally good, choose the one that reveals something. The middle of each peak hides the most cards.
4. Work on all three peaks
It's tempting to dig into one peak, but the base row belongs to all three. Spreading your plays keeps more cards face up and more options open. The peak tops are worth bonus points, and they only come free once the cards below them are gone.
5. Use King–Ace wraparound
With King–Ace on (the default), the ranks form a circle: Q, K, A, 2 is a valid run. Runs can carry on past the ends of the ranks, so remember them when counting chains.
6. Draw at the right moment
Drawing ends your run, so finish every playable chain first. But don't play a card that ruins a better run just to avoid drawing. Sometimes the right move is to draw now and keep a long chain ready for a better waste card.
Practise with the daily deal
The daily deal is the same for everyone, so it's a fair way to compare scores. Try it, then use undo to replay the deal and see how much higher you can go.
For a different puzzle, try Pyramid (pairs that add up to 13) or Spider for a longer game.
Frequently asked questions
What is the key to a high TriPeaks score?
Long runs. Because each card in a run scores one more than the last, one run of ten scores 55 points, while two runs of five score only 30. Look for the longest chain before you play the first card.
Should I always play a card if I can?
Almost always, but choose which one. When two cards fit, pick the one that continues the longer chain or turns over a face-down card. Drawing instead only makes sense when every playable card would wreck a better run later.
