How to Play Threes
Threes is the simplest push-your-luck dice game going: the only question is which dice to keep.
The rules
- Roll five dice.
- After every roll, set aside at least one die. Roll the rest.
- Keep going until all five are set aside. Your total is the sum of the kept dice, with every 3 counting zero.
- Lowest total wins.
On kawu
- Solo: one turn, and your score is kept; the daily roll gives everyone the same dice.
- Against the computer: you each take a turn per round; the lower total wins the round, best of five.
- Tap dice to pick them (or press 1 to 5), then Roll. Hint shows what the hard computer would keep.
Then read the Threes strategy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep more than one die after a roll?
Yes, any number from one to all of them. You must keep at least one, and once kept a die stays.
What is the best possible score?
Zero: five threes. A total of 5 or less is excellent; the average with sensible play is around 8.
