How to Play Word Builder
Word Builder gives you seven letters and asks one question: how many words can you make?
The puzzle
- The seven letters are a common seven-letter word, scrambled.
- Make words of three letters or more (four in the harder mode) using only those letters. A letter can be used as often as it appears: with two Rs you can use R twice.
- Type letters on your keyboard or tap the tiles, then press Enter. Shuffle rearranges the tiles when you're stuck.
Scoring
| Length | Points |
|---|---|
| 3 letters | 1 |
| 4 letters | 2 |
| 5 letters | 3 |
| 6 letters | 4 |
| 7 letters | 5, plus 3 for using every letter |
The top line shows your score against the maximum and how many words are still to find.
Finishing
Press Finish when you've had enough, or keep going until every word is found. The result shows the seven-letter word and the words you missed.
Daily and practice
- The daily puzzle is the same for everyone and uses the three-letter rule.
- Practice puzzles are unlimited. Choose a three- or four-letter minimum in the settings; the four-letter rule skips the little words and makes the counter honest about the hard ones.
Hints
A hint tells you the length and first letter of the shortest word you haven't found yet.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a letter twice?
Only if it appears twice among the seven. Each letter can be used as many times as it's shown, no more.
Which words count?
Common English words of three to seven letters from a standard list: no proper nouns, no abbreviations, and no offensive words. Plurals and verb forms count.
Do I have to find every word?
No. Press Finish whenever you like; your score is what you found. The puzzle also ends by itself when every word has been found.
