Collapse Strategy: 6 Tips

1. Squares beat sums

Two groups of 5 score 18; one group of 10 scores 64. Always ask how to make one bigger group rather than two smaller ones.

2. Pick a colour to hoard

Choose the colour with the most blocks and avoid tapping it. Clear the other colours in small groups so its blocks fall together.

3. Work from the bottom

Removing low groups shifts more blocks, which joins groups above. Removing high groups changes little.

4. Watch the slide

Emptying a column brings the right side over. Use it to merge groups, and be careful not to split a group you were building.

5. Count the leftovers

Near the end, a block with no partner is stuck. Try to leave none: the 1000-point bonus for a clear board is worth a few smaller groups.

6. Use the hint when unsure

The hint looks one move ahead and avoids leaving stranded blocks.
