Memory Strategy: 5 Tips
1. Unseen card first
Start each turn with a card you haven't seen. If it matches a card you remember, turn that one second and take the pair.
2. Never waste a second card
If the first card is new and you know no partner for it, choose the second card to be new as well. Turning a known card that can't match just loses information.
3. Remember positions, not pictures
Say "the star is top left" rather than "I saw a star". Positions stick better.
4. Scan in order
Go through the unseen cards in a fixed order (row by row). That way you always know which cards are still unknown.
5. Pairs you've half seen
When you see a picture for the second time, that's a guaranteed pair next turn. Get those out of the way before exploring more.
Frequently asked questions
Should I turn a new card or a known card first?
Turn an unseen card first. If it matches something you've already seen, turn that known card second. If you turn a known card first, you learn nothing new from it.
