How to play
- Each side has a king, gold, silver, bishop, rook and one pawn on a 5×5 board. Pieces move as in shogi.
- A captured piece joins your hand and may later be dropped on any empty square instead of moving.
- A piece that moves onto or from the far rank may promote: silver and pawn to gold, bishop to dragon horse, rook to dragon king. A pawn reaching the far rank must promote.
- A pawn may not be dropped on the far rank, on a file holding one of your pawns, or to give checkmate.
- Checkmate wins, as does leaving your opponent without a legal move. The same position four times is a draw.
